I have scale on my roses. I would like to know how to tell if the scale are dead, once they have been sprayed.

Should I rub the scale off the stems or do they just fall off after being sprayed?

Answer: Hi Sandra,
Scale does not necessarily fall off once it has been killed. To check if it has died scrape a few with your finger nail and it they are dry and powdery they are dead. They are easily removed once they have dried out by rubbing along the branches and stems with gloved hands.
