Why did some of my cauliflowers turn a pink colour, tasted ok.

I had a lovely winter vegie garden , the cauliflowers had large leaves, were compacted tightly but a couple were not white like the others but a pinkish colour, the were called snow balls that I grew from seed.

Answer: this pink colouration is caused by strong sunlight and can be avoided by covering the curd with some of the upper leaves and pinning together to keep the sun off.
