How deep do you plant golden canesAsk a question now...

We have 2 golden canes which we planted at the same depth they had been potted but now the roots seem to be showing and the side canes are falling over and coming away from the soil.

Answer: Dear Kerry,

When planting from the pot into the garden you would usually dig the hole twice as wide and one and a half times the depth. You also need to firm the soil in around the rootball of the plant so there are no air spaces and the roots come into contact with the soil. Perhaps you may need to add some more garden mix around the rootball so the plant is supported and planted firmly into the ground. Then water in with some seaweed solution to help stimulate and promote new root growth.
