sunburned azaleas

How can I treat azaleas that have been badly burned by the current hot weather conditions ... should I prune them ... should I feed them ... or what?

Answer: Hi Sue,

Thank you for contacting Yates.

I would suggest holding back of pruning the brown leaves till autumn as it can provide further protection for the healthy leaves during extream weather. To prevent more sunburn, try Yates Water Wise DroughtShield, which works like sunscreen to help protect your tree. Prolonged exposure to the sun will still result in burning, but the effects will be reduced by spraying with Yates DroughtShield.

To help revive the plant, try eco-seaweed. It’s 100% seaweed extract, which is approved for use in organic gardens. It helps reduce transplant shock, improves overall health and vigor and can also help reduce the incidence of diseases!
