would a savage prune help dwarf tibouchina promote growth in centre of plant. Mas flowers on external branch

Bare as a billiard ball in inside no sign of new shoots
3year old plant gets very little relief from sun all day.
Soil sandy masses of compost added, still will not hold water.
was very leafy in 1st 12 month then just flowers.

Answer: Tibouchina’s are an attractive plant and are a great addition to the garden. To encourage bushy growth give them a hard prune after flowering in winter and tip prune them during spring and summer to maintain dense bushy growth.
