2-3 year old Avocado tree & Orange tree, how long before they fruit.

I live in the South Coast (near Nowra). The Avocado tree was in a very large pot for about 2 years and now its in the ground. Orange Tree planted start into the ground not sure how long just puchased from Bunnings.

Answer: Hi Lyndal, the orange tree is grafted so may produce a couple of oranges in its second winter (this year). Allowing too much fruit to form in the first couple of years can slow the tree down, so should be thinned to 2 or 3 fruit only in the first year in the ground. After that the tree may be big enough to support more without thinning. It is normal for the tree to self-thin when the fruit is between marble and golf ball size.
if the avocado was from a seed it will take 6-7 years before it starts to flower and fruit. Grafted avocadoes after 3-4 years.
