My Dwarf Peach Tree has half circle shaped bites all over it and the leaves are turning brown?

The tree just fruited its first lot and it looks very much like it is dying. It seemed to have wind burn because we have had very hot weather, so I put a box with the front cut out over it and it seemed to come back. Now the leaves look very brown in the last couple of days and wilted. What can I do?

Answer: Hi Zoe, sounds like a general problem with heat and particularly lack of water but very hard to diagnose further without more information or seeing a sample. Not sure what you mean by the bite marks – is this the leaves or the fruit? – if it is the leaves it could be anything from caterpillars to leaf-cutter bees. The browning is more of a problem and could be related to fertiliser burn or bad reaction to a spray. Perhaps taking a sample of the leaves to a nursery would be a better way to diagnose in detail.
