WHAT fertiliser for carrots

Submitted: 06:51AM, 09 Jul 2010
Answer: Dear Paul,
Before planting carrots, be sure to incorporate some organic matter evenly throughout the soil so as to avoid the roots of the carrots becoming forked and misshapen. Organic matter will help to improve the structure of the soil which will allow the roots to grow and expand.

Young seedlings can be fertilised with half strength Aquasol or Thrive Soluble Fertiliser. Once the seedlings have established you can continue to fertilise every few weeks to promote faster growth. It is important not to over-feed, especially with high nitrogen fertilisers.

Hope you enjoy harvesting your carrots.
